Durability in Carpet comes from a heavy fibre. A heavy fibre means your carpet is going to move less over time. Most wear in carpet happens from movement, meaning the heavier the fibre the less wear. Nylon is heavy in weight and high quality. We would suggest considering this if you are looking for a highly durable carpet fibre.

It is important to vacuum your carpet regularly to extend its lifespan – dust and debris build up from foot traffic, pets and spills. These debris embed themselves in the Carpet and overtime these wear against the carpet fibre & backing causing it to break down.

Treat spills as soon as possible – Liquid stains immediately blot away the excess liquid with a colourfast cloth or paper towels. For more thicker spills such as food or mud use a flat blunt object to scrap away the excess spill – Never rub a thicker spill as this will push the debris deeper into the Carpet making it harder to remove.

When choosing a carpet OZ rating is one of the most important things you should understand. It is a reference to the weight of the fibre. This is used as a scale to compare products & it ensures you are looking at a comparable product when receiving your quotes. The higher the OZ rating the more fibre the carpet has on it. Meaning the heavier, thicker & more luxurious it is.

The term “Solution Dyed” means that the carpet is dyed right through to its core. If you think of this in these terms this will help clarify it for you. Prior to solution dyeing fibres would appear like a “radish.” Coloured on the outside and white on the inside – a solution dyed fibre would present itself as a carrot – for example the colour in a carrot runs right through to the centre of it. This feature means your carpet is more fade & stain resistant due to being solution dyed. The answer being yes.

A “loop pile carpet” is where the yarn is pulled through the backing and then back up to the top, continuously creating a looped texture. Loop pile carpets won't show marks from vacuuming or footprints.

A “cut pile carpet” has one extra step during manufacturing where a machine goes along the top and cuts all of the loops to create a soft plush luxurious looking carpet.

Carpet underlay is very important and relatively inexpensive in the scheme of your project, a good quality underlay will prolong the life of your new carpet & dramatically increase comfort.

Depending on the condition of your existing underlay, yes in some cases you can reuse it. We suggest inspecting the underlay in particularly high traffic areas before making this decision and discussing this with our team.
