William Beare's Flooring Experience and Expertise

William Beare’s Journey into the Industry

William Beare has spent the past twelve years immersed in the flooring industry, building a reputation as both an expert craftsman and a forward-thinking business leader.

As the Managing Director of Beare Flooring, he has made it his mission to transform the way people experience flooring, from initial consultation to final installation, ensuring customers receive honest, tailored advice and high-quality solutions that stand the test of time.

His journey in flooring began in Auckland, New Zealand, where he started working in his brother-in-law’s flooring business. What began as a warehouse job quickly turned into a passion for flooring, craftsmanship and customer service. Through hands-on experience in every stage of the process, he developed a deep understanding of what makes a flooring business successful.

Early on, he recognised that customer satisfaction and installer organisation were the backbone of a great flooring company, principles that continue to guide Beare Flooring today.

Over the years, William’s role evolved from hands-on flooring work to running one of the most customer-centric flooring companies in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Leadership & Business Innovation

Today, his expertise extends into business structure, strategic planning, customer retention, product design and branding. His leadership has helped Beare Flooring carve out a niche as a company that prioritises quality, innovation, and above all, honesty in flooring recommendations.

He believes that a flooring company should serve the customer first, rather than pushing sales-driven solutions that don’t suit the space.

Beare Flooring has completed major commercial projects under William’s direction, including the Pacific Plaza on the Gold Coast, where his team installed flooring across twelve levels of common areas, and the Sovereign Hotel in Surfers Paradise, where they handled an extensive flooring project covering the foyer, hallways, and multiple upper levels.

These large-scale developments showcase his ability to manage high-profile, complex installations while maintaining Beare Flooring’s commitment to excellence.

Transforming the Flooring Industry

William is also a keen observer of trends and shifts in the flooring industry, often noting how consumer preferences are changing.

He has seen firsthand how the traditional flooring showroom model is becoming outdated, with customers now preferring a personalised, in-home consultation experience over browsing impersonal showrooms.

Recognising this shift, Beare Flooring has embraced a model that brings flooring solutions directly to the customer, ensuring that recommendations are made based on the space itself, rather than what happens to be on sale.

He also sees an urgent need for modernisation within the flooring industry, pointing to a lack of structure, outdated business practices and insufficient use of technology.

Through Beare Flooring, he is actively working to change that, introducing more organised, efficient processes that benefit both customers and flooring professionals.

What Every Homeowner Should Know

Floor Levelling is Required

One of the most important pieces of advice William gives to customers is to expect floor levelling as part of their flooring installation.

Many homeowners are unaware that concreters are allowed to pour slightly uneven substrates under construction standards, but flooring installers are required to correct those imperfections. This often surprises customers who don’t anticipate the extra work involved.

William makes it a priority to educate homeowners about this process so they can plan properly and avoid unexpected costs.

Traditional Showroom’s have Sale Targets

Another common mistake William sees is homeowners purchasing flooring based on what’s being pushed in a showroom rather than what’s actually best for their home. Traditional showrooms often sell products based on inventory rather than suitability, leading to costly mistakes.

Beare Flooring takes a different approach, starting with a blank slate, visiting customers in their homes and assessing their specific needs before making recommendations. This ensures that every flooring choice is based on the property’s unique environment, rather than sales targets.

Mentoring the Next Generation of Flooring Professionals

Beyond his work in flooring, William takes great pride in mentoring experienced flooring professionals and helping them transition into business ownership.

He believes the industry is long overdue for change, and one of the best ways to improve it is by empowering skilled tradespeople to take charge of their own careers.

Through Beare Flooring’s unique approach, he is creating opportunities for senior flooring salespeople and installers to move beyond employment and into business ownership, helping them build sustainable, customer-focused enterprises.

Life Beyond Flooring

Outside of work, William enjoys spending time with family, particularly his niece Nessa, who keeps him on his toes.

Having relocated to Queensland to be closer to his sister and her family, he embraces the Gold Coast lifestyle, often spending weekends on the water wake surfing. He’s also passionate about cooking, experimenting with new recipes, and reading to expand his knowledge.

This balance between work and personal passions keeps him energised and continuously striving for innovation in the flooring industry.

Shaping the Future of Flooring

With years of experience, a deep commitment to quality, and a drive to modernise the industry, William Beare continues to set new standards in flooring. Whether working on a large commercial project or helping a homeowner find the perfect flooring for their space, he is dedicated to ensuring that every customer receives expert guidance and an exceptional flooring experience.

Beare Flooring isn’t just about installing floors, it’s about changing the way people think about flooring and how they experience the process from start to finish.
