With the chaos of every day life what should you expect from your carpet
The modern day family unit can be made up of many different aspects: babies, children, teenagers and of course with teenagers come their friends. There is usually at least one pet running around if not a few. Brothers and sisters dropping in with their family. Friends popping in for a quick catch up as it’s been months since you have seen each other. Let’s face it we all live and breathe the chaos that is modern day society on the daily.
From the moment we wake up in the morning till the minute we lay our weary heads down on the pillow at night life as we know it is busy! And it just keeps getting busier!!!
With all the demands of day to day life and the never ending hamster wheel it can sometimes feel we are on, we look at what you can control in your home environment and that is your carpet and how it will perform.
Majority of households need a carpet that will stand up to at least one of the above if not all of the above elements. That’s why the most important factor we need to talk about to help with making your decision is fibres.
The fibre a carpet is constructed of is the main characteristic you should be interested in – Start with the word “Solution Dyed” for example – let’s talk it through…
The term “Solution Dyed” means that the carpet is dyed right through to its core. If you think of this in these terms…..Prior to solution dyeing fibres would appear like a “radish ” coloured on the outside and white on the inside – a solution dyed fibre however presents itself as a “carrot” – for example the colour in a carrot runs right through to its centre.
“This feature means your carpet is going to be much more fade & stain resistance than if the fibre you selected didn’t have this term used.”
Durability in carpet also comes from a heavy weighted fibre. A heavy fibre means your carpet is going to move less over time, most wear in carpet happens from the movement of back and forth foot traffic. The heavier the fibre the less wear. Nylon is a heavy weighted fibre that is high in quality. When considering what carpet is the best option for your family home and deciding on colour and type be it cut pile or loop pile carpet it is best to start by narrowing your search to a “Solution Dyed Nylon” carpet. This product is going to be easy to clean, easy to care for and stand up to the hustle and bustle of a busy household.
Polyester is also a hard wearing fibre but it does overtime have a tendency to flatten in high traffic areas, however the fibre itself is usually more cost effective to produce – if you are on a tighter budget a “Solution Dyed Polyester” is the next best option for the home.
