Flooring for Gold Coast Homes
Seven ranges, chosen for how Gold Coast homes actually live: humid summers, sandy feet, bright light and busy families. Every one of them comes to your door in the mobile showroom.
See All CarpetCarpet on the Gold Coast
Carpet is still the most comfortable floor underfoot, warm and quiet for bedrooms and media rooms in Gold Coast homes. For rentals and busy family homes, choose a durable, stain-resistant carpet over a plush one, or natural wool for softness and warmth.
See All Hybrid FlooringHybrid Flooring on the Gold Coast
Hybrid flooring is the floor we’re laying most on the Gold Coast, from Hope Island to Coolangatta. Its waterproof core handles humidity and splashes, and a good wear layer stands up to sand, which acts like sandpaper on floors. Ask about Alpine, our best seller.
See All LaminateLaminate Flooring on the Gold Coast
Laminate flooring is a budget-friendly way to get a timber look in the bedrooms, studies and upstairs living areas of Gold Coast homes. Keep it away from pools and outdoor doors: near water, your expert will point you to hybrid or vinyl planking instead.
See All Timber FlooringTimber Flooring on the Gold Coast
Engineered European oak and solid timber flooring bring natural warmth and lasting character to Gold Coast homes. Engineered timber is particularly well suited to coastal conditions, offering greater stability in changing humidity, with a range of finishes and tones to complement your home.
See All Vinyl PlankingVinyl Planking on the Gold Coast
Vinyl planking is tough, waterproof and easy to clean between tenants, which makes it a favourite for Gold Coast rentals. It suits laundries, kitchens and anywhere water is a worry, with timber looks that handle spills and busy family life.

Carpet tiles are made for offices and commercial spaces, and they work hard at home in garages and rumpus rooms too. If a tile is stained or worn, it lifts out and a new one goes in, keeping Gold Coast workspaces looking fresh.

Roller blinds keep Gold Coast rooms cooler and cut the afternoon glare, in light-filtering and block-out fabrics to suit every room. Your expert measures and quotes them at the same visit as your floors, with the same free in-home service.

Flooring Across the Gold Coast
From apartments in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach to canal homes at Hope Island and family homes in Robina and the southern beaches, Gold Coast homes ask a lot of their floors. Most sit on a concrete slab, so moisture testing and a level slab are often the most important part of the job, and your local expert checks both before recommending a floor.

Coast and Canal Homes
Wet feet from the pool and beach call for a quality hybrid or engineered timber with a tough finish and a good slip rating. We steer people away from cheap laminate near outdoor doors.

Hinterland and Acreage
More timber subfloors, bigger temperature swings and more moisture under the house, so ventilation and the subfloor are checked first. Engineered timber suits these homes beautifully.

Timber Flooring
Check your body corporate’s by-laws before you fall in love with a floor. We help with the paperwork for approval, so your floor and underlay meet the acoustic rules.
Gold Coast Flooring FAQs
Is hybrid flooring a good choice for Gold Coast homes?
Yes, for most rooms. Hybrid is the floor we’re laying most on the Gold Coast, because its waterproof planks handle humidity, sandy feet and splashes from the pool. Know the trade-offs: “waterproof” means the planks, not the subfloor, so a leak can still get underneath; it can’t be sanded back like timber, so choose a good wear layer from the start; and without proper floor preparation it can sound hollow. Our best-selling Alpine range is very stable, needs no expansion breaks and looks great for the price.
Should I choose engineered or solid timber on the Gold Coast, and will it fade?
On the coast, your expert will almost always recommend engineered timber, such as European oak, because it’s more stable in our humidity than solid boards. All timber changes colour in the sun, which is natural: blinds, UV film on big windows and moving rugs around now and then keep it even. Solid timber is best avoided in rooms with full western sun. New to it? See our guide to engineered timber flooring.
Is there a Beare Flooring showroom or store on the Gold Coast?
Our showroom comes to you. Your local expert brings hundreds of samples to your home in the Beare Flooring mobile showroom, so you can see carpet, hybrid, timber, laminate, vinyl planking and carpet tiles in your own light, next to your own furniture. Book a time online and we’ll come to you.
What’s the most affordable floor that still lasts?
For most Gold Coast homes, the best value is a good mid-range hybrid in the living areas with carpet in the bedrooms, and laminate is the budget-friendly option for bedrooms, studies and upstairs rooms. Don’t judge on price per square metre alone: preparation and installation decide how long a floor lasts, so your expert itemises both on your quote.
Who lays my new floor?
Your local expert looks after your job from the first visit to the finished floor. They measure digitally, recommend the right product and underlay, and check your subfloor, so any preparation is discussed and itemised before you agree to anything. Your floor is then laid by our experienced team of installers and carpet layers, who we hold to a high standard, and it’s backed by our Lifetime Install Guarantee.
Do you work in Surfers Paradise and Main Beach apartments?
Yes. Most Gold Coast apartment buildings have body-corporate rules that set a minimum acoustic rating for hard floors, so the underlay matters as much as the plank. Your expert will check your building’s rules, recommend a floor and underlay that meet them, provide the acoustic test results your body corporate needs, and help guide you through the approval.
Are there carpet and hybrid flooring deals on the Gold Coast right now?
Your local expert can tell you about any current offers when they visit, including what’s available for your job. Every quote is free and itemised, so you can review it in your own time, and 12 months interest free is available through Latitude for approved customers.
What affects the price of new flooring on the Gold Coast?
The product you choose is only part of it. The condition of your subfloor (including any levelling it needs as part of the job), lifting old flooring, stairs and, in apartments, the acoustic underlay your building requires can all change the total. Your expert checks all of this at the visit and gives you an honest, itemised quote on the spot. For typical price ranges, see our cost guides for carpet, hybrid, laminate, vinyl planking, engineered timber and carpet tiles.
Do you do commercial flooring on the Gold Coast?
Yes. Our Gold Coast experts also quote and install commercial flooring, such as offices and retail spaces. Carpet tiles, vinyl planking and hybrid are popular commercial choices because they’re hard-wearing and easy to maintain. Book a visit and your local expert will measure up and give you an itemised quote, just as they would for a home.

Choosing Flooring on the Gold Coast
Everything that is different about flooring a home on the coast, from the local experts who measure and quote here. Product detail lives on the category pages; this guide covers the local questions.
Flooring for the Gold Coast Climate
Humidity is the big one. Timber and some laminates move more here than down south, so stock is acclimatised on site and expansion gaps are left where the product needs them. Strong sun through big glass doors fades timber and can heat hybrid enough to move if it isn’t laid correctly, and sand acts like sandpaper on any floor, so a good wear layer and a doormat matter more than most people think. Read more about how hybrid flooring handles Queensland heat and humidity, and about wool carpet in a Queensland climate.
- Canal and beachside living areas – a quality hybrid or engineered timber with a tough finish and a good slip rating
- Bedrooms and media rooms – carpet: warm, quiet and still the most comfortable underfoot
- Rentals – hybrid or vinyl planking in the living areas, with durable, stain-resistant carpet in the bedrooms
Apartments, Canal Homes, Hinterland and Acreage
In apartments from Main Beach to Burleigh, check your body corporate’s by-laws before you fall in love with a floor. Most buildings have acoustic requirements, so you’ll usually need approval and the right product or an acoustic underlay, and we help with the paperwork for your submission. Canal and beachside homes need a floor that copes with wet feet, so we’d talk you out of cheap laminate near pools and outdoor doors, and solid timber in rooms with full western sun. Hinterland homes in Nerang, Mudgeeraba and Canungra have more timber subfloors, bigger temperature swings and more moisture under the house, so ventilation and the subfloor are checked first, and engineered timber suits them beautifully. Read more in our guide to hybrid flooring in apartments.
What Flooring Costs on the Gold Coast
It depends on the product, the size of the area, the condition of the subfloor (any preparation, such as levelling, is part of the job) and whether old flooring needs to come up. Apartments may also need an acoustic underlay to meet body-corporate rules. Your local expert measures digitally and gives you an itemised quote on the spot, with any floor preparation discussed and listed separately, so you can review it in your own time. For typical price ranges, see our cost guides for carpet, hybrid flooring, laminate, vinyl planking, engineered timber and carpet tiles. 12 months interest free is available through Latitude for approved customers.
Floors for Rentals and Investment Properties
For rentals and holiday lets, hybrid or vinyl planking through the living areas is tough, easy to clean between tenants and handles spills. Carpet in the bedrooms is fine, but choose a durable, stain-resistant carpet rather than a plush one. Your local expert can meet you or your property manager at the property and plan the work around your tenancy dates. For more detail, see our guide to the best carpet for rental properties.
Floors for Pets and Busy Families
Dogs, kids and sandy feet are part of life in plenty of Gold Coast homes. A hybrid or vinyl plank with a good wear layer handles scratches and spills, a decent doormat keeps sand off the floor, and a stain-resistant carpet suits the bedrooms. Our guide to choosing a pet-friendly carpet covers carpet in detail.
What Gold Coast Homeowners Are Choosing Now
Right now we’re laying mostly hybrid, from Hope Island to Southport, Mermaid Beach, Burleigh and Coolangatta, all the way to the Tweed,” says Stephen Woodward, who has laid hard floors for 17 years. His advice for anyone comparing quotes: “The biggest mistake I see is choosing the cheapest price per square metre and ignoring the install. A great product laid badly fails, and a mid-range product laid well lasts for years.
